Working side by side with his grandfather in their Gainesville, Florida garage, Matt Shearouse’s automotive education began at the young age of seven. It was his grandfather, Benny that worked with Matt each and every day, endowing him with the necessary skills to become the veteran technician that is today. This time together provided the foundation for Matt’s commitment to customer service, and molded him into the successful leader that he is today, both professionally and in the community.
As a sophomore at South Lake High School in Groveland, Florida, Matt began his profession career in Bob Wade Ford’s Service Department working every day after school. He continued to work for this same dealership through his senior year of high school. As a senior at South Lake, Matt was a honors student, dual-enrolled in college classes, and a participant in the Ford ASSET Program. Upon graduation from South Lake High School, he went on to attend Seminole Community College as a full time student and maintained a full time job at the dealership. Matt graduated with an Associates of Science in Applied Automotive Technologies degree and completed the Ford ASSET Program. In 2003, as an employee of Rolling Hills Ford in Clermont, Matt completed his Ford Senior Master Certification, and also became ASE Senior Master Certified. Both of these designations are the highest achievable in the automotive repair industry. Matt continued to work as a technician and shop foreman for Ford of Clermont, until leaving in 2011 to join the Griffis Automotive Team.
